Julie Cox

  • Tech Support | Soloist | Entrepreneur

As the eldest daughter of Elmer and Anita Cox, Julie has literally grown up, “in the ministry.” At a young age, Julie was participating in church services by singing solos, acting out monologues, (written by her mother), and later, playing her violin for special music.

Julie, and her sister were trained in church music by their parents and inherited their musical abilities. They performed special music for their father’s Evangelistic meetings for about a 5-year period. This included singing, and playing various instruments: Julie (mainly) violin and some piano, while her sister, Charity, played the piano and accordion.

Julie took over the sewing for her Mom when she was 12 years old, and found that she loved it. Her Grandma Cooper taught her the art of sewing with fabric remnants. She has been making most of their wardrobe ever since.

Most recently, Julie has become the church tech person: setting up, recording and uploading messages for internet viewers. In addition, she sings solos and plays her violin during services, accompanied by her mother on the piano. She enjoys teaching groups to play the “Melody Bells” and creating a bell choir for church performances. She recently held a Melody Bell class in a nursing home. The residents really loved that!

She is now also an entrepreneur, as an accomplished seamstress, starting her own sewing business and selling online and at Farmer’s Markets. She says, “I enjoy taking scraps and making beautiful things.”
